Regenerative Collagens

Overview

An essential aspect of surgical procedures is to ensure safe and reliable haemostasis and tissue regeneration. Advanced Medical Solutions (AMS) offers a wide range of collagens for the surgical and dental markets.

What is collagen?

Collagen is the most abundant protein in the bodies of mammals and is the substance that holds the whole body together. It is found in the skin, bones and connective tissue, providing structure, support and strength.

When processed for use as a medical device, collagen has several beneficial properties.

Collagen is biocompatible, has a low toxic risk, is absorbable and has a low immunological response.

Additionally, the collagen is resorbed during tissue regeneration.

Our products are manufactured from naturally cross-linked, equine derived collagen and have a good safety profile.

How does collagen work for haemostasis and wound healing?

The body can regenerate lost or damaged tissue, and collagen products help to support and stimulate this process. Collagen is absorbable, meaning it can be broken down and assimilated by the body. In wound healing, collagen attracts new cells to the wound site, providing a scaffold for new tissue growth.

Collagen is a well known and established haemostat, mechanically triggering platelet activation, which starts the natural clotting process. Collagen is also highly absorbent and absorbs large quantities of fluid. This mechanical action allows the absorption of both blood products to aid haemostasis as well as debris, such as bacteria and fibrin deposits. The collagen fibrin matrix formed acts as a scaffold for fibroblast growth.

Collagen is haemostatic, promotes wound healing, and can be used in a wide range of indications.

Indications For Use

KOLLAGEN resorb™ is an absorbable haemostatic agent for local haemostasis of capillary bleeding, bleeding from parenchymal organs, oozing haemorrhages and as a supportive measure for other techniques of haemostasis and in peripheral vascular surgery.

RESODURA® can be used as a temporary dural substitute for routine neurosurgical and spinal procedures. RESODURA® can be used together with fibrin sealant.

PARASORB® Cone and Fleece HD can be used as haemostatic agents following tooth extractions and oral surgery. PARASORB® Cone and Fleece HD can be combined with fibrin glue in patients with an increased risk of bleeding.

PARASORB® Fleece can be used as a haemostatic agent following tooth extractions and oral surgery. Combination with fibrin glue is recommended in patients with an increased risk of bleeding. The corresponding instructions must be strictly observed.

PARASORB RESODONT® and PARASORB RESODONT® Forte can be used to cover the facial wall of the sinuses and small perforations of the sinus mucosa in sinus elevation operations. PARASORB RESODONT® and PARASORB RESODONT® Forte can also be used as a barrier membrane in bone augmentation surgery.
